Join Litquake in celebrating the lives of three remarkable women who called the Bay Area home during the height of their prominence. We welcome the biographers of sculptor Ruth Asawa (Everything She Touched, by Marilyn Chase), architect Julia Morgan (Julia Morgan: An Intimate Biography of the Trailblazing Architect, by Victoria Kastner) and columnist/author Elsie Robinson (Listen, World! How the Intrepid Elsie Robinson Became America’s Most-Read Woman, by Julia Scheeres) for a discussion on the challenges they faced as women, what it took to excel in a man’s world, and why the Bay Area was a place that nurtured female talent, even a hundred years ago. Moderated by journalist and historian Frances Dinkelspiel. $15 advance / $20 at the door |
