The Preservation Society of Newport County, Virtual Lecture

April 14, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

The year 2022 marks the sesquicentennial of pioneering architect Julia Morgan (1872-1957). Though best known as the designer of William Randolph Hearst’s lavish San Simeon estate (1919), Morgan built an additional 700 structures throughout the west. Her life and career are a story intersecting with the end of the Gilded Age, both in the style of her architecture and her experiences. A prevailing myth maintains that Morgan destroyed her personal papers. Victoria Kastner, author of the new biography “Julia Morgan: An Intimate Biography of the Trailblazing Architect,” will refute this legend and reveal the fascinating story of Julia Morgan’s private life, as well as discuss the architect’s inspiring public career. The virtual lecture will take place on Thursday, April 14 at 6:00 pm EST, 3:00 pm PST.

Our virtual lectures are free and registration will be open to the public.
