When she attended lectures and used the library at the École des Beaux-Arts (the Paris School of Fine Arts), Julia Morgan walked across this Roman-style enclosed sculpture court. In 1898, Julia became the first female student accepted into its world-renowned architecture program (which had been founded 250 years earlier). It was a stunning achievement, and an indication of her extraordinary talent and remarkable perseverance.
